Opportunity Snapshot
In this high impact role you will leverage your subject matter expertise in the eBusiness space to help a strong and respected brand recapture a leadership position. As we move our North American corporate headquarters to New Jersey we're taking a proactive approach to hiring impact players not only for today, but also for tomorrow: ambitious people who can grow and contribute beyond their job description and move their career to the next level. We're looking for a professional who can teach us a thing or two about online business development, and in our lean structure your great ideas will be heard and approved quickly so you can own and execute on them in short order.
Providing direction to two individuals, you will manage all aspects of our multi-tier online business activities. To be a good fit for this opportunity you will have significant experience developing and implementing leading edge web marketing strategies, including experience with premium branding. Our goal is to hire professionals who, like the best people at Volvo, combine subject matter expertise with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders, influence others, think systematically, and communicate effectively.
Volvo Cars North America supports (VCNA) some 400 sales outlets and service centers, delivering premium cars known for safety, environmental responsibility, quality, design, and pure driving pleasure. Volvo. For life.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
In addition to the qualifications detailed above, you'll need:
A bachelor's degree; however, we also will consider non-degreed candidates with significant relevant experience.
Superior knowledge of and experience with on-line marketing principles and applications, including a solid understanding of retailer lead management systems.
Strategic planning and project management skills acquired through training and leadership within team-based problem solving projects.
Strong knowledge of field and retailer operations and how local, regional, and national decisions impact sales.
A proven ability to analyze data and metrics in order to make decisions, monitor performance, and make changes accordingly.
A strong creative orientation and the vision to drive the brand and business forward.
A strategic and holistic approach to the business and the discipline.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish credibility with internal and external partners at various levels.
Strong written communication skills.
A demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and direct internal and partner organizations.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
What's in It for You
High impact -- you will lead strategies to take our consumer facing website to new levels. As you probably know, our brand has well-established rational attributes; you will help us forefront the emotional attributes as well, such as pure driving pleasure.
Career development -- you bring the independence and resourcefulness, and we'll provide the opportunities to grow and shine. Many Volvo employees move from one position to another, enabling us all to develop a broad understanding of the business and add greater value to the company.
Great work environment -- a lot of companies talk about culture, but at Volvo our values are central to the way we do business, and they have been since our founding 80 years ago. We welcome everyone's input in a team-oriented atmosphere and, while we are objective driven, we are also a group of humans who care about one another.
Pride -- you will be part of the company that produces some of the world's most highly regarded automobiles, and associated with a prestigious name that instantly triggers associations with safety, quality, and driving excitement.
Excellent compensation -- in addition to a competitive salary, we offer a very attractive benefits program. For example, while other employers are scaling back healthcare benefits, ours remain highly competitive. You also will have the opportunity to lease Ford Motor Company vehicles (including insurance and maintenance) at discounted rates.
More About Your Role
If you're a good fit for this position, you already know most of what this job entails. However, to be sure we're providing a complete picture, here are some details.
We are moving Volvo Cars North America (VCNA) headquarters from Irvine, CA to Rockleigh, NJ, and you'll be starting fresh with a large number of new Volvo employees. A core group of tenured employees also will make the move. The team in Rockleigh will be on the smaller side at about 60, and we're hiring people with both depth and breadth, people who can make an impact as we take on the challenges of the toughest auto industry environment in 20 years.
Reporting to the Manager, National Advertising, you will join a team that also includes a Brand Communication Integration Manager. In turn you will provide direction to an Internet Marketing Coordinator, whose mission is to keep the content on our national website fresh, and an eRetail Manager who develops and manages content for regional and local sites. Overall this team is the face of the brand -- as the Manager, National Advertising likes to say, "We are Volvo."
You will provide the vision, innovation, and the hands-on leadership to manage:
On-line campaign development for Tier I, our national brand advertising on volvocars.com.
Tactical on-line campaign development for Tier II, websites originating from 20+ regional groups and multi-site dealers.
Website development and on-line media plan development for Tiers I and II.
Internet lead generation and lead conversion strategies and results.
Pivotal to your success will be your ability to coordinate among a variety of stakeholders, including Volvo Cars Corporation in Sweden, the European counterpart of VCNA, internal VCNA business disciplines, the regional groups, individual dealers, our IT vendor, and our media planning partner. We'll look to you to take a proactive approach to establishing yourself not only as the expert, but also as someone people are comfortable coming to when they need to find the best business solutions on the web.
Keys to Success
As you might expect in such a transition, we'll look to you to remain flexible as we establish process and procedures as well as bring a number of new people up to speed in the new venue. We're bringing the best of Volvo systems and practices, but if you have the spirit we're looking for, you see the opportunity behind the challenge: top performers can make an impact by taking a proactive approach to learning quickly and bringing forward ideas.
The National Advertising group boasts a high level of competence, but the team dynamic is just as important. As a smaller team in a lean environment, we place a premium on high energy, a positive attitude, self-motivation, and resourcefulness. We'll also look to you to embrace our passion for our unique and highly successful brand.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
